    • Who is Haelio Photo?

      About me

Film and digital travel photographer and teacher

I'm Madeline, and I love to spend time on an adventure waiting for the right photographic moment to emerge. I am an available light photographer, using the light that is around me day or night.

When I am not at home in Melbourne working in branding and as a photographic art director, or teaching film photography, I travel the world, working on photography projects and hunting down old neglected cameras to add to my growing collection.

I learned photography by hand, developing negatives and prints in a darkroom in the late 1990s and completed a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art Photography and Graphic Arts and a Master of Arts.

I now work with both digital and film depending on what medium will work best and suit the location I am in (sometimes I'm shooting both at the same location).

My current go-to equipment is an Olympus OMD-EM1 kit for my digital needs, and for film, an Olympus OM-1n, a Bronica Zenza S2, and a 4x5 Wista large format field camera.

I enjoy teaching people about film photography and sharing my passion for this photographic medium, and run a business taking small group tours teaching everyone from beginners to more advanced digital photographers how to shoot with film. Find out more at photo-tours.com.
